1967 Volkswagen Karmann Ghia

** For Full Pictures and Descriptions please see 503motoringsales.com ** Up for your review is this stunning and well sorted 1967 Volkswagen Karmann Ghia. Once called "One of the Worlds Most Beautifully Designed Products" the Type 14 Ghia, styled by Italy's Carrozzeria Ghia and hand built by Karmann, was sold from 1955 till it concluded production in 1974 with a whopping 445,000 sold at the hands of Volkswagen. This particular example rolled off the assembly line in Osnabrueck Germany on the 24th of November 1966 originally specc'd an L50K Neptune Blue car with Black Leatherette upholstery and a 1500CC motor. Fast forward to 2011 and the car began a full refresh after a reported 82500 miles on the clock. With a complete Pan on restoration in the works the entire body was stripped down to bare metal. Pictures during the process show very light body work to correct a few bumps and bruises as well as a complete outer rocker on the passenger side. Wearing just about all it's original metal the Ghia was then sprayed Porsche Signal Red inside and out and buffed to a mirror shine that is still evident today. Almost anything that could be ordered and replaced was done with most parts being sourced by local favorite House Of Ghia. Refreshed gauges, Stereo and trim were also ordered. After paint was complete all the original glass was reinstalled and the factory Re-chromed bumpers were bolted on. Attention was then turned to the interior where a SewFine TuTone seat covering was installed with new padding. Headliner, Carpet and seals were installed and off she went for the next 4 years motoring around the Beaverton area until the Ghia was purchased by the current caretaker. During his care the Ghia has received a complete tip to toe wrench check and adjustments by Larry Govin. It Starts, Stops, Shifts and operates as intended. Effortlessly. One click of the key and the updated 1600cc power plant fires to life and purrs like a kitten. Shifting through the gears is solid and accurate thanks to the Vintage Speed sport shifter and the sweet sound of the Pea Shooter Exhaust makes the motoring that much better. Adding to the refreshed interior is a set of Cocoa Mats and Moto-Lita steering wheel and hub. This Ghia is ready for its next chapter and is 100% sorted and ready for the adventure.
